Cowhide leather is strong, heavy, and practically indestructible – ideal for motorcycles or rough festivals. Lambskin is much softer, more flexible, and lighter for everyday wear in the city. Synthetic / eco-leather (PU) is affordable and waterproof, but doesn't breathe and after 2–4 years of intensive wear it starts to peel. Real leather, on the other hand, ages and develops a patina – with wear it slightly changes shade in the folds, gains a unique worn look, and becomes a one-of-a-kind original.

Before your first outing, spray the jacket with leather impregnation. Once or twice a year, treat it with a balm with beeswax or lanolin so the leather doesn't dry out. If you get wet at a concert or in the rain, always dry the jacket on a wide hanger at room temperature. Never put it on a heater or in direct sunlight – the leather would harden and crack.

A leather jacket by itself provides moderate warmth, but blocks wind excellently. For winter wear, choose a model with a detachable insulated liner or a fur collar. With a classic leather jacket, layering is enough – functional underwear and a warm hoodie under the jacket will reliably keep you warm even in colder months.

Frost itself won't harm real leather, but the danger is winter moisture, snow, and especially road salt from the streets. Salt drains the natural moisture from the leather and creates white stains on it. Before going out in winter, thoroughly impregnate the jacket. If you get wet or salt sticks to the jacket, wipe it gently with a damp cloth, let it dry at room temperature (never on a heater!), and treat it with nourishing leather balm. With proper care, wearing a leather jacket in winter is no problem at all.

Be careful with PU leather in winter. Synthetic material stiffens in frost, becomes brittle, and loses elasticity. With frequent wear in sub-zero temperatures, cracks may appear in the bends (mainly at the elbows and arms). PU leather also doesn't breathe at all and doesn't insulate as well as real leather. If you want to wear a leather jacket even in freezing temperatures, real leather is an incomparably more durable and reliable choice.
